Lymm Piranhas was founded by Graham Sweeney in 2002. Graham was a forerunner of the Futbal de Salao phenomenon started by renowned football coaching Guru Simon Clifford. FDS as it was known was a way in which kids in Britain could experience Brazilian style football methods. The name Piranhas stemmed from one of the main clubs playing in the Brazilian League.
Graham coached youngsters across Warrington and was keen for a team to emerge from these coaching classes, with the emphasis on passing, movement, appreciation of the ball and having fun.
From it's early beginnings teams continued to be produced each year. The team first played at Little Manor in Thelwall, where to this day teams continue to play and train. Each year since then new teams have formed and from this tiny acorn, the club now has over 150 kids playing from under 5s up to Under 14s. The teams play across a number of sites in the Lymm & Thelwall area of South Warrington
The club prides itself on having an excellent reputation amongst other clubs, having strong links with the community and of developing and nurturing talent, always with the emphasis on the kids playing with a smile on their face.
In 2009 we were committed to achieving FA Charter Status and saw this as an important step in the club improving our coaches, attaining more opportunities for finding a permanent home and enhancing its growing reputation within the Warrington Leagues and beyond.
We were pleased to confirm that Lymm Piranhas was successful in this goal in the later stages of that year!!

Thanks to Claire Phillips for this wonderful picture of co-founders Graham Sweeney and Mark Phillips, pictured with the Under 9s Division 2 Winners from 2004-05 Season, when Mark was the Manager. 3 of the players still play for Lymm Piranhas with the U14s!
Just as a record of the fact this Logo was used for a couple of seasons, 2007-10, it has been put on the website for nostalgia!
